Beacon Hill penthouse is spectacular sale
An elegant Beacon Hill penthouse overlooking Boston Common is among the spectacular sales of September.
The 3,075-square-foot condominium at Amory on the Park at 50 Beacon St. sold for $3.4 million. Tracy Campion of Campion and Company Real Estate was both the listing and selling broker.
Built in 1872, the original mansion was combined with a five-story brick building on Spruce and Branch streets in the early 1900s. Between 2003 and 2005, the complex was converted to five stunning residences.
An elevator from the main entry provides direct key access into the middle of this beautifully appointed home. To the right is a gallery that leads to the main entertaining spaces.
A grand living room with a large gas fireplace has two large windows set into the wide bowfront and overlook the Common and the Public Garden.
Doric columns and crown molding define the dining room, which is completely open to the living room.
Large windows in both rooms give views of Spruce Street.
The distinctive dining room is open to the kitchen and features deep crown molding, a magnificent chandelier and a gleaming oak floor.
A spacious kitchen is next to the dining room and can be accessed from that room or from the gallery.
Custom-designed cabinetry, high-end appliances and granite-topped counters and a center island easily meet the needs and wants of a gourmet chef. A large breakfast room with built-in shelves is next to the kitchen.
Opposite the kitchen is a convenient powder room.
To the left of the elevator are the private quarters. The master bedroom suite overlooking Spruce Street is huge and boasts two three-window bays, allowing for a sitting area to be arranged in front of another fireplace.
This bedroom suite includes two large walk-in closets and a luxurious en suite marble-tiled bath.
Two other bedrooms have large closets and, in between, a Jack and Jill-style bath.
On the other side of the gallery is a big family room and a wet bar. Adjacent is a laundry.

Flights of stairs on either side of the elevator lead to a private roof deck with fabulous views. Valet parking at the Boston Common Garage is included in the condominium fee.
