Celebrity penthouse is on the market
When New England Patriots’ quarterback Tom Brady stepped into the world of residential development five years ago, he purchased a handsome white stone mansion at 310 Beacon St. in the Back Bay and created four condominiums.
Charles Kirby designed the original building in 1871, and the architectural firm of Peabody and Stearns redesigned it in 1903.
An international businessman purchased the condos on the first three floors, and Brady kept the penthouse for himself.
Last week, Inside Track, the gossip column in the Boston Herald, reported that the palatial penthouse is on the market for $10.5 million.
The 5,311-square-foot residence includes three bedrooms, three-and-a-half baths, an expansive landscaped roof deck with panoramic views of the Charles River and beyond and four deeded parking spaces.
The duplex is assessed for slightly more than $5.7 million, slightly less than the previous year when it was assessed $60,000 higher. Taxes were $73,214. The condo fee is $8,218 per month.
The main rooms are on the top floor. A grand living room with gas fireplaces at either end is at the front of the building, and next to it is an entertainment media room with all the top-of-the-line technical equipment imaginable.
At the back is the spacious, less formal great room with a fireplace that is open to an extravagant gourmet kitchen with a center island.
A staircase leads to the enormous deck with a copper-clad solarium with two skylights. A kitchen setup with a gas grill is at one end of the deck.
The lower level is reserved for private quarters and holds three en suite bedrooms. The two bedrooms at the front of the building have a gas fireplace; the larger bedroom has three bow windows.
The master bedroom suite includes huge his-and-her dressing rooms and a sumptuous master bath. The deep soaking tub set in a stone deck faces a small gas fireplace; two separate vanities, a steam shower and a water closet complete this lavish space.
Two doors in the bedroom open onto a balcony with views of the river and Esplanade. The building has a doorman; management services are off site. The condo fee is $8,218 per month.
Allison Mazer of Gibson Sotheby’s Back Bay office has the listing.
