Fort Point Channel penthouse has fabulous roof deck
The city’s sparkling new Fort Point district, with its high-rise luxury condominium towers, brick warehouses remade into artists’ lofts, and water views, would be the perfect place to enjoy springtime.
Want to get out of town without actually leaving all its amenities? It’s possible, at 25 Channel Center, Penthouse 104, which Lynne Zekis of Otis & Ahearn Real Estate has listed at $1.799 million.
This condo is a “chic duplex that has it all,” says Zekis. The building at 25 Channel Center is a multi-story, brick-and-glass-front high-rise, built in 2003.

Penthouse 104 is one of four top-floor corner units. It looks northwest across Fort Point Channel – which separates this district from the South Station area and downtown – and northeast to the Seaport World Trade Center, Boston Harbor and Logan Airport.
The current owners of this duplex were the original buyers, and they have created a spectacular urban hideaway.
Its most remarkable feature isn’t even inside. A roof deck, designed by neighborhood resident Beth Whittaker, principal at Merge Architects in Boston, has an incredible array of high-end features.
It’s constructed of ipe, a dark Brazilian hardwood. Five-foot-high glass walls protect from the wind while maximizing the nearly 360-degree view.
A 737-square-foot deck of Brazilian hardwood is an added luxury of Penthouse 104 at 25 Channel Center.
There’s also a sunken Jacuzzi, a sauna with a view of the harbor, an outdoor shower and lighting, plus a built-in Viking gas grill.
The built-in dining banquette seats eight; it has half-height wooden walls that shield diners while offering a to-die-for cityscape view of Fort Point Channel, the HarborWalk and South Station.
Watching television might seem like a superfluous activity as the city lights up below, but you could host a terrific Red Sox party here, since the deck even has a built-in flat-screen TV, which is screened protectively against the weather.

An upstairs storage closet for all equipment and sound systems is at the top of the inside stairway leading to the deck.
When you have to go indoors for the night, you can still be outside – there are balconies off both the dining/living area and master bedroom.
The open kitchen is equipped with the finest stainless steel appliances, granite counters and breakfast bar along with custom cabinetry.
The west-facing bedroom, painted a pale gray-green, is 19 feet by 17 feet; its wide L-shape offers a corner space with stunning views that would be suitable for a small office or sitting area.
An en suite dressing room with Swedish-made frosted glass-front shelving and closet space, a full bath with a glass-walled ceramic tile shower, soaking tub and granite-topped vanity complete this indoor picture.
Then there’s the 11- by 7-foot concrete terrace, accessible by sliding glass doors. Stairways to the roof deck and to the lower first level are just outside.
The master bedroom, hallway and second upstairs bedroom are all carpeted wall-to-wall in tan wool.
Also upstairs are a second full bath with gray painted walls and subway shower tiles and a utility closet. The second bedroom is painted a pale pink.
In the original design, this 10- by 18-foot bedroom, which has a north-facing window, was cut open halfway to overlook the living room area below.
The dining area is situated in front of a wall of glass and a handsome, gas-fired raised fireplace.
Current owners have covered this portion with frosted glass, but the room offers potential as a loft-type office if a future owner wished to remove it. The second and first levels are on separate floors of the building and have separate elevator access.

Upon entering this condo a visitor is immediately impressed by the walls of windows and tall, tall ceilings (20 feet).
The modern color scheme is a gray, white and silver.
Hardwood floors have been stained a dark cocoa, and a gas fireplace with a black surround and raised hearth set into a white mantelpiece is built against one wall in the dining area.
The master bedroom has glass sliders that open onto a long terrace.
The galley-like kitchen looks out to the full living area and features a sparkling, mosaic marble tile backsplash, glass-front cabinets, granite countertops and high-end appliances.
The dining and living rooms flow into one 32- by 30-foot space. A 21-foot-long concrete balcony with a metal fence is accessible on the west wall via sliding glass doors. There’s a third bedroom, plus a third full bath and a washer/dryer on this level as well.
A city-lovers’ paradise is indeed no exaggeration for this space, and this neighborhood.
